Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-3) vs. Ball State Cardinals (4-3)

Week 8 of the 2022 college football season brings the Mid-American Conference showdown from Scheumann Stadium in Muncie, Indiana, where the Eastern Michigan Eagles face off against the Ball State Cardinals.

Ball State opens as a slight 2.5-point home fave with a total of 58.5 points, while Eastern Michigan sits at +115 moneyline odds. Last year, the Cardinals outlasted the Eagles 38-31 as 1-point road favorites to extend their winning streak over Eastern Michigan to three games.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles (4-3; 2-5 ATS; 1-2 conf.) suffered a 39-10 defeat to the Northern Illinois Huskies in Week 7. Playing as 3.5-point home favorites, the Eagles disappointed their fans and failed to grab their third consecutive victory. Eastern Michigan racked up just 226 total yards and yielded 410 to the Huskies, who dominated the game on the ground with a whopping 287 yards on 49 carries. On the other side, the Eagles mustered a paltry 29 yards on 27 rushing attempts.

Senior QB Taylor Powell completed only 11 of his 23 passing attempts in Week 7, finishing with 197 yards, a touchdown, and a pick. He’s tossed for 1,171 yards, eight touchdowns, and six interceptions so far this season. Senior RB Samson Evans leads the way for EMU’s backfield with 634 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 120 totes, while senior wideout Tanner Knue has 24 receptions for 361 yards and five scores in 2022.

The Eagles are scoring 28.4 points per game (tied-72nd in the nation) on 220.9 passing yards (87th) and 139.0 rushing yards (tied-81st). They are yielding 32.7 points in a return (113th) on 222.6 passing yards (58th) and 172.4 rushing yards (98th). Senior DL Jose Ramirez has been outstanding so far this season, posting seven sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss through seven contests. Back in Week 6, Ramirez had four sacks in a 45-23 victory at Western Michigan.
