C-USA foes match up when the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (4-3) and the UAB Blazers (4-2) square off on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
The Hilltoppers knocked off the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 35-17 in their last game. The Blazers are coming off of a victory over the Charlotte 49ers by the score of 34-20. Against the Blue Raiders, Austin Reed led the Toppers with 278 yards on 32-of-49 passing (65.3%) for two touchdowns and one interception. He also carried the ball 12 times for 39 yards and one rushing touchdown. Kye Robichaux totaled 78 rushing yards on eight carries (9.8 yards per carry), scoring one touchdown on the ground. He added three catches for nine yards. Malachi Corley led the receiving charge against the Blue Raiders, catching 10 passes for 100 yards and one touchdown. Dylan Hopkins threw for 231 yards for the Blazers against the 49ers, going 15-for-23 (65.2%) with one touchdown and one interception. He added 10 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown. Dewayne McBride carried the ball 29 times for 137 yards (4.7 yards per attempt) with two touchdowns. TJ Jones collected two catches for 59 yards (o n two targets).
The Hilltoppers are the favorite (-2.5) in a projected tight game against the Blazers. The total is set at 57.5 points.
