Chicago Cubs vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-31-2022

The Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants put a pretty bow on their ensuing four-game series in Sunday’s finale at Oracle Park. A back-and-forth clash is currently ongoing between the struggling NL teams with losing records. Things have been especially tough for the Giants, who came into the series on a seven-game losing streak. We’ll see if they can finish strong with Carlos Rodon slated to start at pitcher against Chicago’s Adrian Sampson.

The Cubs are hopeful to have more than middle fingers in store for the San Francisco Giants in Sunday’s series finale. After evening things up on Friday, they’ll be looking to add to those feelings of accomplishment by knocking off the Giants once again at Oracle Park.

But as they showed in Game 2, they’re going to need their offense to come through to at least some degree. Say what you want about the Giants’ current struggles, but the team still has a top-10 run-scoring offense in the league. They’re going to figure out ways to put runs on the board and back the Cubs into a corner.

Chicago is a team that hasn’t done well in those sorts of situations this season.

Of course, that’s looking more through a long-term scope for a team that was 41-58 heading into Saturday’s game. But they’ve found fire as of late wit h a 7-3 record in their last 10 outings. That’s a wave of confidence that could potentially be ridden to the Promised Land against a Giants team allowing a .250/.311/.385 slash line.

Adrian Sampson will get the start at pitcher for the Cubs against some powerful bats in San Francisco. The veteran righty is throwing a 3.20 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP. He’s also still looking for his first win of the season.
