The Los Angeles Kings face the Detroit Red Wings with both teams looking to start the season out on the right foot. The Kings are 1-2 to start the season but are coming off a big win on the road while the Red Wings have started the season with two decisive victories. Both teams are looking to make a statement in their respective conferences and the upcoming game should be a great one as a result.

The Kings have looked promising to start the season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.67 goals per game including seven goals in their recent win. Adrian Kempe, Alex Iafallo, and Anze Kopitar have scored five goals and seven assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has also stepped up. Gabriel Vilardi, Kevin Fiala, and Arthur Kaliyev have combined for four goals and five assists while defensemen Michael Anderson and Matt Roy have added a goal and three assists from the point to help open up the offense.

While the offense has stepped up, the defense has struggled to start the season, allowing 4.67 goals per game including six goals in their last game. Drew Doughty and Michael Anderson have led the top pairing but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to carry the puck into the offensive zone and create open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goalt ender Jonathan Quick looks to step up in the net as he's allowed seven goals on only 72 shots.
