Milwaukee was teetering between first and second place in the National League Central for most of the first half, but the Brewers have been able to take control of proceedings since the All-Star break. They took three out of four against Colorado last weekend before sweeping a two-game series against Minnesota. Milwaukee added a 4-1 victory at Boston on Friday night to get to 12 games above the .500 mark. The Brewers are sitting atop the NL Central, leading St. Louis by three games in the standings. It appears to be a two-team race, as Chicago is 14.5 games back in third place.

The Brewers have not been a great offensive team this season, ranked No. 22 in batting average (.238). Left fielder Christian Yelich leads the way with 91 hits, while designated hitter Andrew McCutchen has 85 hits. First baseman Rowdy Tellez and shortstop Willy Adames are tied for the team-lead in home runs with 20 each. They will be facing a Boston pitching staff that is No. 24 with an ERA of 4.30. Left-handed pitcher Aaron Ashby is going to be on the mound for Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon. He took the loss against Colorado on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk across seven strong innings. It was his first quality start since May 30, and he brings a 4.38 ERA into this game.
