Tampa Bay Lightning at Columbus Blue Jackets – 10/14/22 NHL Picks and Prediction

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets face off on Friday in an NHL showdown at Nationwide Arena.

The Lightning have high expectations for the season, but they didn’t look good in the first game of the season. Tampa Bay faced off against the New York Rangers, and they were defeated 3-1. At the end of the second period the game was tied 1-1, but they gave up two goals in the third period, and that led to the loss. Steven Stamkos was the top player for the Lightning, finishing with five shots on goal and one goal. Nikita Kucherov also finished with one assist and three shots on goal. The Lightning as a team finished with 26 shots on goal, and in this game, they need to try and raise that number. In goal was Andrei Vasilevskiy and he finished saved 36 of his 39 shots faced.

On the other side of this matchup is the Blue Jackets and they were defeated 4-1 in the first game against the Carolina Hurricanes. The defense gave up two goals each in the second and third period. Star player Patrick Laine finished with one goal and two shots on goal, but he was hurt and isn’t expected to play in this game. Justin Danforth finished with five shots on goal but didn’t have a goal or an assist. Daniil Tarasov saved 39 of the 43 shots he faced. In this game the defense needs to do a better job of not allowing so many shots through.
