Kent State vs. Toledo Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-15-2022

This Saturday, the (2-4) Kent State Golden Flashes and the (4-2) Toledo Rockets will match up in the seventh week of the 2022 college football season. Kickoff will be at 3:30 PM EST inside the Glass Bowl. Both of these teams have been up and down this season, but they will look to start fast against one another.

The Kent State Golden Flashes are entering this one after falling to Miami (OH), 27-24. Kent State came up just short, as they struggled to stop the run. They gave up 236 rushing yards, as their front seven will have to be better if they want to get back into this win column.

The Toledo Rockets are coming into this one after taking down Northern Illinois, 52-32. The Rockets ended up creating four interceptions, as their secondary was flying all over the field. They will need to stay hot on the defensive side of the field if they want to take care of business at home in this one.

The Kent State Golden Flashes are (2-4) this season, but two of their losses have come from Oklahoma and Georgia. They have been able to hold their own against Miami (OH), Ohio, and Long Island. On offense, Kent State is currently scoring 27.2 points per game and they are averaging 437.2 total yards. This is the 81st most points scored per game and the 44th most yards. The Golden Flashes have shown that they can move the ball, but they have been more successful on the ground. They are averaging 200.7 rushing yards per game, which is the 28th most in the country. Watch for Marquez Cooper, as he leads the team in rushing yards this season. He has already recorded 542 yards and 6 touchdowns, as he is averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Kent State is also throwing for 236.5 passing yards per game, which is the 74th most. I expect Collin Schlee to start at quarterback, as he has already thrown for eight touchdowns and only three interceptions this se ason. He also threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns in their loss to Miami (OH) last week. He will be looking to get the ball to Dante Cephas, as he has been Kent State's leading receiver. He has already recorded 39 receptions for 619 yards and three touchdowns.

On defense, the Golden Flashes have continued to give up points. They are currently allowing 29.7 points per game and 442.7 total yards. Their defense has let them down against better competition this season. This is the 93rd most points allowed per game and the 113th most yards. They are currently surrendering 276.2 passing yards per game, which is the 116th most in the nation. Last week, they only gave up 179 passing yards, though. They were shredded through the air in week 1 against the Washington Huskies, as they gave up 393 passing yards. Kent State is also allowing 166.5 rushing yards per game, which is the 94th most. Watch for Nico Bolden, as the senior safety has been flying around the f ield this season. He has already recorded 49 tackles this season, which leads the team.
