Nevada Wolf Pack (2-4) vs. Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (1-5)

Week 7 Saturday college football betting action wraps up with the Mountain West Conference showdown from Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex in Honolulu, Hawaii, where the Rainbow Warriors face off against the Nevada Wolf Pack.

Hawaii opened as 4.5-point home underdogs with a total of 49.0 points, but that went up to 6.5 with a total of 49.5 points. The Rainbow Warriors have won two of their last three meetings with the Wolf Pack, but Nevada beat Hawaii 34-17 as a 14-point home fave in 2021.

The Nevada Wolf Pack fell to 2-4 SU and ATS on the season following a 17-14 defeat to Colorado State in Week 6. It was their fourth straight-up and ATS loss in a row, as the Wolf Pack dropped to 0-2 in the conference play. Nevada outgained the Rams 358-255 in total yards and won the turnover battle 3-2, but it wasn’t enough.

Nate Cox got the starting call under center in Week 6. Senior signal-caller completed just 20 of his 42 passing attempts while throwing for 244 yards and a pick-six. Toa Taua led the way for the Wolf Pack with 23 carries for 80 yards and a couple of touchdowns, while BJ Casteel added 87 yards on nine receptions.

Nevada head coach Ken Wilson rotated Nate Cox and sophomore Shane Illingworth in 2022, and Cox looks like his first choice at the moment.

“Cox has a little more escapability,” Wilson said. “He can move around a little better. I wouldn’t be fair to Shane or Jake if we said now Cox is the quarterback. What’s the purpose of competition then? We feel like we’ve got good players, everybody has an opportunity to play. We give them that right, the opportunity to earn jobs every week.”

The Wolf Pack’s offense ranks 118th in the nation in passing yards (163.3 per game) and 95th in rushing yards (130.0). Nevada is scoring just 22.7 points per contest (tied-105th) while surrendering 28.8 in a return (tied-83rd).
