Washington Commanders vs. Chicago Bears Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-13-2022

A pair of struggling NFC teams will meet on Thursday night when Washington travels to Chicago. The Commanders have lost four consecutive games since winning their season opener, while Chicago is on a two-game skid. These teams have not met since 2019, when Chicago notched a 31-15 road win.

Washington got off to a strong start this season when it picked up a 28-22 win over Jacksonville, which has looked like a solid team since then. The Commanders have been trending in the opposite direction, losing four consecutive games. They lost three of those games by multiple possessions before coming up short against Tennessee on Sunday. Washington had the ball on the 2-yard line, but quarterback Carson Wentz threw two incompletions before throwing an interception on third down to seal the victory for Tennessee. Wentz did have his highest passing output of the season, throwing for 359 yards.

The Commanders have been a mediocre offensive team this season, ranked No. 19 in the NFL in yards per game (341.6). Wentz has completed 62.9% of his passes for 1,390 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. His top target has been wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who has caught 19 passes for 326 yards and a score. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel has added 32 catches for 281 yards and two touchdowns. The rushing attack has not been able to generate much success, averaging just 3.2 yards per carry. They are facing a Chicago defense that is No. 22, allowing 367.2 yards per game.
