Dallas Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-9-2022

The Dallas Cowboys will try to extend their three-game winning streak when they face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon. Dallas has been without its star quarterback in all three of those games, but backup Cooper Rush has performed admirably in those victories. Los Angeles had its two-game winning streak snapped in a 24-9 loss at San Francisco on Monday.

Dallas got off to a terrible start this season, scoring just three points in a blowout loss to Tampa Bay while also losing quarterback Dak Prescott to an injury. The Cowboys were heavy underdogs at Cincinnati in Week 2, so it looked as if they were going to fall into an 0-2 hole. Rush threw for 235 yards and the defense came up with timely stops in the 20-17 win, though. Dallas has been riding a wave of momentum since then, beating the Giants and Commanders in consecutive weeks to move into second place behind Philadelphia in the NFC East—the Cowboys have a showdown at Philadelphia on deck next Sunday night.

Prescott was originally slated to return this week, but Rush’s trio of wins have reduced the urgency to rush Prescott back from his broken right thumb. Rush has completed 60.8% of his passes for 737 yards and four touchdowns, with his most significant statistic being zero interceptions. That has allowed Dallas to maximize its possessions and keep its defense from being put in difficult positions. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has rushed for 227 yards, averaging 3.85 yards per carry. Wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and Noah Brown have each gone over 270 receiving yards, while tight end Dalton Schultz ranks third with just 80 yards. Dallas relies on a defense that boasts Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence, ranked sixth in the NFL in yards allowed per game (308.5).
