Seattle Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-9-2022

The Seattle Seahawks (2-2, 2-2 ATS, 2-2 O/U) take on the New Orleans Saints (1-3, 1-3 ATS, 2-2 O/U) in an NFC bout on Sunday afternoon. The Seahawks registered a wild road victory against the Lions in their previous action. The Saints were dealt a narrow loss by the Vikings in their latest clash. The Saints beat the Seahawks 13-10 last season.

The Seattle Seahawks are looking to climb above the .500 mark in this one. They rebounded from a 27-23 home loss to the Falcons with a thrilling 48-45 road win against the Lions last week to even their record at 2-2. The 48-point output came as a bit of a surprise considering the offensive performance in the first three games which included 17 points against Denver and only seven in the loss to the 49ers. Seattle has covered the spread in two of its four games.

Geno Smith deserves plenty of credit so far. The 31-year-old has connected on 77% of his pass attempts and has eclipsed 300 yards in back-to-back games. Smith now has 1037 passing yards along with a 6:2 TD to INT ratio on the season. Rashad Penny was a beast last week as well, collecting 151 rushing yards against a poor Lions rush defense. The 26-year-old RB now has amassed 282 rushing yards on a stellar average of 6 yards per carry. Penny i s questionable with a shoulder injury.

Tyler Lockett made six receptions last week. The 30-year-old star has registered 302 receiving yards while DK Metcalf is just behind him with 284 yards. The Seattle offense has performed better than expected in two straight games and now ranks 10th in total yards per game.

The Seahawks' defense continues to stumble. They have squandered at least 27 points in three straight bouts. They conceded a whopping 520 total yards against Detroit who now lead the NFL in scoring. The Seahawks pass defense is at 28th while the rush defense is 29th. Seattle is scoring an average of 23.8 points, landing them 11th. The defense is conceding an average of 28.8 points, pegging them 31st.
