Liberty at UMass – 10/8/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Liberty Flames and UMass Minutemen face off on Saturday in a Week 6 college football showdown at McGuirk Alumni Stadium. In 2021 it was Liberty that secured the 62-17 victory.

Liberty comes into this game with a 4-1 record overall and they are coming off another big win over Old Dominion. Liberty scored 38 points, and they were able to secure the 14-point victory. Liberty has played two quarterbacks all season, and it was no different in the last game. Kaidon Salter completed 10 of his 19 passes for 170 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jonathan Bennett completed 7 of his 9 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. Liberty is averaging 29 points while their defense is giving up 22.8 points per game. The only loss for Liberty was against Wake Forest, and even in that game, they scored 36 points.

On the other side of this matchup is UMass who sit with a 1-4 record overall and they are coming off a loss in their last game. Against Eastern Michigan, UMass only managed 13 points, and that led to the seven-point defeat. Quarterback Gino Campiotti struggled to throw the ball in the last game, but he was good on the ground. He rushed 25 times for 118 yards and a touchdown. The Minutemen’s offense has really struggled and they are averaging only 10.6 points per game. The defense hasn’t been a whole lot better and is giving up 29.6 points per game.
