The Toledo Rockets and Northern Illinois Huskies face off on Saturday in a college football showdown at Huskie Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Northern Illinois that secured the 22-20 victory. 

Toledo comes into this game with a 3-2 record overall and they are coming off a big win in their last game. At halftime, Toledo was up 31-3 and they never looked back on the way to the 38-17 victory. Under center for Toledo is DeQuan Finn and in the last game, he completed 13 of his 23 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Jacquez Smart also had 16 carries for 122 yards and one touchdown. DeMeer Blankumsee finished with four catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. The losses for Toledo came against Ohio State and San Diego State. Toledo is averaging 33 points while their defense is giving up 24.2 points per game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Northern Illinois who sit with a 1-4 record and they have been a big disappointment this season. In the last game against Ball State they forced overtime but were defeated 44-38. Running back Harrison Waylee had quite the game finishing with 30 carries for 230 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Ethan Hampton completed 17 of his 29 passes for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Northern Illinois is averaging 31.6 points while their defense is giving up 35.6 points per game. Starting quarterback Rocky Lombardi is still dealing with a knee injury and it’s unclear if he’s going to be able to go in this game.
