The Kent State Golden Flashes and Miami Redhawks face off Saturday in a MAC college football showdown at Yager Stadium. When these two teams faced off in 2021 it was Kent State that secured the 48-47 victory in overtime.
Kent State comes into this game with a 2-3 record overall but they have played a tough schedule, and this is a good team. In the last game against the Ohio Bobcats, it took overtime, but they were able to secure the 31-24 victory. Under center for Kent State is Collin Schlee and he completed 24 of his 37 passes for 398 yards and a touchdown. Running back Marquez Cooper also had a big game finishing with 40 carries for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Kent State is averaging 27.8 points while their defense is giving up 30.2 points per game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Miami of Ohio Redhawks who sit with a 2-3 record overall but they are coming off a loss in their last game. In the last game against the Buffalo Bulls, the Redhawks scored 20 points, but it wasn’t enough as they were defeated by four points. Quarterback Aveon Smith completed 14 of his 26 passes for 119 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. The Redhawks are averaging 19.6 points while their defense is giving up 25.4 points per game.
