Kent State vs. Miami – OH Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-8-2022

Kent State will try to build on its overtime win against Ohio when it travels to Miami (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes played a closer game at No. 1 Georgia than expected before beating Ohio in overtime last week. Miami picked up an upset win at Northwestern before losing at Buffalo in a 24-20 final its last time out.

Kent State has faced one of the toughest schedules of any team in college football so far this season, facing a trio of ranked opponents. The Golden Flashes came up short in all three of those games against Washington, Oklahoma and Georgia, but they covered the spread in the losses to Oklahoma and Georgia. They were 45-point underdogs against the Bulldogs in what turned out to be a 17-point loss, easily covering the big number. Kent State was able to build on that performance with a 31-24 win over Ohio last week, but it did not cover the 13-point spread.

The Golden Flashes put up just three points at Oklahoma, but they scored 63 points against Long Island, 22 points against Georgia and 31 points against Ohio. Quarterback Collin Schlee had not thrown for more than 200 yards in his first four games of the season, making his 398-yard outing against Ohio an outlier. Junior running back Marquez Cooper is coming off the best game of his career, rushing for 240 yards and two touchdowns against the Bobcats. He also had 90 rushing yards against Georgia, so he has proven himself against good teams. It is difficult to gauge Kent State’s defense after having to face three of the best offenses in the country, but they did hold Ohio to 24 points last week.
