Nebraska at Rutgers – 10/7/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Nebraksa Cornhuskers and Rutgers Scarlet Knights face off on Friday in a Week 6 college football showdown at SHI Stadium.

Nebraska comes into this game with a 2-3 record overall and they have already fired Scott Frost earlier in the season. Even though they have a losing record, they did look good in the last game. Nebraska scored 35 points against the Indiana Hoosiers, and they secured the 14-point victory. Casey Thompson looked good in the last game throwing for 270 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Wide receiver Trey Palmer had a big game catching eight passes for 157 yards and a touchdown. Nebraska is averaging 31.4 points while their defense is giving up 32.6 points per game.

On the other side of this matchup is Rutgers who sit with a 3-2 record overall but they are coming off a blowout loss against Ohio State. The offense only managed 10 points, while the defense gave up 49 points. The biggest issue for this Rutgers team is they really don’t have one starting quarterback. Evan Simon completed 10 of his 19 passes for 74 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Rutgers is averaging 24.8 points while their defense is giving up 23.6 points per game. If Rutgers wants any chance in this game, they are going to need to find a way to get the ball moving through the air and making this a balanced attack. They can't expect to just run the ball and come away with a win.
