Texas vs. Oklahoma Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-8-2022

Texas (3-2 SU, 4-1 ATS, 1-1 B12) and Oklahoma (3-2 SU, 2-3 ATS, 0-2 B12) meet in the Red River Shootout in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas on Saturday at 12pmET.

The Longhorns are coming off an impressive 38-20 win at home over West Virginia, while the Sooners were destroyed at TCU 55-24 as a 5-point road favorite.

Last season, the Sooners outscored the Longhorns 55-48 as a 4-point favorite.

After losing to Alabama at home (20-19) and getting shocked by Texas Tech in overtime (37-34) on the road as a 7-point favorite, Texas is not likely going to the playoffs this season. So now they need to win out in the Big 12 and it starts on Saturday against Oklahoma.

In their 38-20 win over West Virginia, Hudson Card threw for 303 yards with three TDs. Card has started three games due to the fact that starter Quinn Ewers (clavicle) was injured in the Alabama game.

“We’re healthier than we’ve ever been since the start of the season,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said on Monday in his press conference on SI.com. “That’s a positive. We’ll see how the week goes.”

Card has played well, completed 69.2% of his passes for 923 yards with six TDs and one pick.

The Texas defense held West Virginia to just 61 yards rushing and 263 yards passing. Stopping the run and running the ball will be important in this game. Texas is allowing 367 yards per game overall and 247 passing yards per game (90th). They allow just 120.2 rushing yards per game (42nd). Offensively, the Longhorns average 263 yards per game in the air and 154.4 rushing yards per game.

Bijan Robinson leads the way with 515 yards (5.9pc) and eight TDs. Xavier Worthy is the top target and vertical threat with 21 catches for 331 yards (15.8ypc) and three TDs.
