Army vs. Wake Forest Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-8-2022

The Army Black Knights (1-3, 1-3 ATS, 3-1 O/U) take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-1, 4-1 ATS, 3-2 O/U) in an inter-conference battle on Saturday afternoon. The Black Knights dropped a home decision to Georgia State last week. The Demon Deacons improved to 5-1 with a convincing road win against a ranked Florida State team in their previous action. Wake Forest pummeled Army by a 70-56 score last year.

The Army Black Knights are seeking their first win against an FBS opponent. Their lone victory occurred in a 49-10 home win against Villanova. They were close in week two, losing in overtime against UTSA. The Black Knights were tabbed large nine-point favorites in a surprising 31-14 home defeat against Georgia State of the Sun Belt last week. Army has only covered once which was in the Villanova win.

Army is a program that uses the triple-option offense and rarely attempts long passes as a result. There are all sorts of QB runs, options, and halfback sweeps. Cade Ballard did have 221 passing yards in the OT loss but only has a total of 320 passing yards with a 2:1 TD to INT ratio due to the run-heavy offense. The senior QB has 131 rushing yards.

Army has three RBs with at least 200 rushing yards. Tyrell Robinson has ecli psed 100 yards once this season and leads the squad with 282 rushing yards. Ay’Juan Marshall leads the team with four catches for a total of 141 yards. The Army offense hasn’t been the issue in two of their three defeats.

The Black Knights' defense needs improvement. They squandered a whopping 456 total yards in the defeat last week. The pass defense is above average, ranking 32nd but the rush defense continues to have trouble, squandering 300 rushing yards last week and stands at 127th overall.

Army is scoring an average of 32.3 points, landing them 61st. They are allowing an average of 30 points, pegging them 96th.
