A pair of surprising ranked Big 12 opponents battle in search of a conference win in the Sunflower State on the gridiron. The #17 TCU Horned Frogs are on the road as they travel to face the #19 Kansas Jayhawks with College Gameday coming to Lawrence for the first time in school history Saturday afternoon. TCU blitzed #18 Oklahoma 55-27 at home last Saturday in their previous contest. Kansas held off Iowa State 14-11 as a three-point underdog in their previous contest last Saturday. In the all-time series between the schools, the Horned Frogs own a 25-9-4 advantage and have won the last three meetings. That includes a 31-28 home victory in the most recent matchup on November 20, 2021.

TCU remained unbeaten under first-year coach Sonny Dykes as they jumped #18 Oklahoma early and cruised to a one-sided victory over a ranked foe last week. The Horned Frogs ran their record to 4-0 overall and stand 1-0 in conference play. Against Oklahoma, TCU had three touchdowns of at least 60 yards and scored 27 first quarter points to take control of the game early. The Horned Frogs never let the Sooners closer than 17 the rest of the way to earn the victory. TCU piled up an impressive 668-355 edge in total offense, held a 29-22 advantage in first downs, controlled the clock by a 32:49 to 27:11 margin and forced the game’s lone turnover.

For the year, TCU comes into this contest ranked 21st in the FBS in passing offense with 297.8 yards per game while they are 6th in rushing offense by grinding out 251.8 yards per contest. The Horned Frogs are 3rd in the na tion in scoring offense by putting up 48.5 points per contest while they are 48th in scoring defense as they give up 22 points per game. Max Duggan is 70 of 94 passing for 997 yards with 11 touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 149 yards plus two scores on the ground. Chandler Morris is 13 of 20 for 111 yards while adding 18 yards on the ground: he suffered a sprained knee in the opener against Colorado. Sam Jackson (five of five, 63 yards, 64 rushing yards, two TD) and Josh Hoover (one of one, two yards) have seen work in garbage time. Kendre Miller leads the team with 51 carries for 386 yards plus five scores. Emani Bailey (12 carries, 113 yards, TD) and Emari Demercado (24 carries, 182 yards, four TD) are capable backs as well. Taye Barber (11 grabs, team-high 208 yards, TD), Derius Davis (team-high 14 receptions, 158 yards, two TD), Quentin Johnston (12 catches, 114 yards) and Savion Williams (10 receptions, 122 yards, two TD) are among six players that have cr acked the century mark in receiving yards.
