Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-5-2022

Colorado Rockies (67-93) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (110-50)

The 2022 MLB regular season wraps up Wednesday, October 5, with the NL West showdown from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, where the Colorado Rockies and LA Dodgers meet for a six-game set finale with the first pitch at 4:20 PM ET.

After dropping the first two games of this series, the Rockies have surprisingly won two straight over the Dodgers. Tuesday night’s contest has been excluded from the analysis, while the Dodgers are heavy -400 moneyline favorites to win the closer.

The Colorado Rockies have allowed 16 runs through the first two tilts of this rare six-game series. They’ve yielded just a couple in the next two, outlasting the mighty Dodgers 4-1 and 2-1 in the process. Last Sunday, German Marquez threw six frames of a one-run, one-hit ball, while Jose Urena gave up just a run on five hits on Monday.

The Rockies have only won three of their previous 14 games overall, posting a pedestrian 5.85 ERA and .359 opposing BABIP. Their bullpen has thrown 50.1 innings in that span while recording a miserable 6.79 ERA and .363 opposing BABIP.

Chad Kuhl will get the starting call Wednesday and face the Blue Crew for the fourth time this season. He’s gone 1-2 with a 6.19 ERA and 1.50 WHIP in his previous three dates with the Dodgers. Last Friday, the 30-year-old right-hander was shelled for six earned runs on eight hits and three walks across 3.1 frames of work in a 10-1 defeat at Dodger Stadium.

Kuhl is now 6-11 with an ugly 5.72 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 27 starts (137 innings pitched) in 2022. He’s been awful since the All-Star break, recording a 9.00 ERA and 6.89 FIP in ten starts and 45 frames of work.
