In Wednesday night NHL preseason action, the Calgary Flames will travel to the Canada Life Center to take on the Winnipeg Jets. The Flames (50-21-11) are the defending Pacific Division champions and lost to Edmonton in the Western Conference second round. The biggest question surrounding Calgary entering the season is replacing top scorers Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk.'

On Monday, Calgary dominated the faceoff circle (35-16) en route to a 4-1 home victory versus Seattle. C Blake Coleman scored an unassisted goal and assisted on another for the Flames.

The Winnipeg Jets finished sixth in the Central Division and failed to qualify for the playoffs a season ago. The Jets hired head coach Rick Bowness, who has spent the previous three seasons with Dallas, plans to change the culture this year. His first step was to remove F Blake Wheeler as captain and replace him with a group of alternative captains.'

On Saturday, Winnipeg took visiting Edmonton to a shootout before falling by a 3-2 final score. C Cole Perfetti scored twice on the power play for the Jets, who outshot the Oilers by a 35-27 margin.
