Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-5-2022

The Arizona Diamondbacks (73-87, 93-67 RL, 73-82-5 O/U) battle the Milwaukee Brewers (85-75, 66-93 RL, 73-74-12 O/U) as the NL foes conclude their regular season on Wednesday night. The Diamondbacks give the nod to Merrill Kelly. The Brewers will send Corbin Burnes to the hill targeting his 13th victory. Arizona leads the season series 3-2.

The Diamondbacks will have Merrill Kelly on the mound to finish the season. Kelly was clobbered in his previous start, conceding eight runs including three home runs in 4.2 innings, and was tagged with the loss to fall to 13-8. The veteran right-hander had many dominant stretches on the mound but struggled last month and enters with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP in 194.1 innings of work on the season. Kelly logged seven shutout innings against the Brewers last month and is 2-1 with a 3.45 ERA in 31.1 career innings.

Arizona had an encouraging season and is a team that could be within striking distance of the last Wildcard next year.  They have several promising young players and were close to the .500 mark at one point in August. They have struggled down the final stretch, going 3-7 in their last ten games.

Arizona had a few hitters break out at the plate this season including Daulton Varsho. The 26-year-old is second on the team with 27 big flies along with 74 RBIs and a respectable .754 OPS. Rojas continues to excel and has two homers and four RBIs against the Brewers this season.

The Diamondbacks are scoring an average of 4.37 runs per game, ranking them 13th. The pitching staff has logged a 4.27 team ERA, positioning them 23rd in the Major Leagues.
