Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-5-2022

The New York Mets finish up the regular season Wednesday by taking on the Washington Nationals. The Mets are headed for the playoffs while the Nationals will end the season with the worst record in baseball. The Mets are 11-5 against the Nationals this season coming into this series. First pitch is at 4:10 p.m. ET at Citi Field in Flushing, New York.

It has been a disastrous season for the Washington Nationals, who will finish the season with the worst record in baseball. This is a team that is just three seasons removed from a world series title in 2019. Not only were they bad, but their best player and the person who they wanted to build around, Juan Soto, turned down a mammoth offer and forced himself out of town as he was traded at the deadline to the San Diego Padres.

So, what the future holds is unsure, but we'll revisit that question next season after we see what offseason moves they make. As of now, the Nationals have a chance to play spoiler here but its probably more likely that they will just pack it in and get on with their offseason plans. Erick Fedde is due to get the start for the Nationals on Wednesday. Fedde is 6-12 on the season with an ERA of 5.27 in 26 starts. He has 93 strikeouts and 56 walks in 124.2 innings. He lost to the Phillies in his last start, allowing 2 earned runs in 5 innings of work.
