Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-4-2022

The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox continue to play out the string as also-rans in the AL Central Division race in 2022. The last two winners of the division fell flat down the stretch this season due to injury and turmoil and now wrap up disappointing seasons squaring off against each other. On the mound on Tuesday night will be righty Josh Winder (4-5, 4.31) for the Twins and fellow righty Lucas Giolito (10-9, 5.00) of the White Sox. Game time is set for 8:10pm EST.

The Twins appeared destined for another shot at the playoffs this year and perhaps even another shot at their old playoff nemesis, the New York Yankees. Unfortunately, a slew of injuries in the second half of the season put an end to those hopes and the Twins will have to revamp their roster for another run in 2023. The Twin have faded badly down the stretch, going just 10-20 in their last 30 games entering Monday night's game with the ChiSox. On Monday night, trailing 3-2, the Twins loaded the bases with two outs in the 9th but Mark Contreras struck out to end the game.

The Twins fast fade in the second half due to injury may have the team looking to move on from some veterans this offseason and bringing in some new faces both on the mound and in their everyday lineup. With that in mind, the Twins players may use these final few games to prove their worth, either to the Twins or to some future team. One player with something to prove will be Tuesday night's starter Josh Winder. Winder has split time between the big club and Triple A this season and dealt with some injury issues as well. Still just 25 years-old, Winder would certainly like to earn a spot in the Twins rotation next season. In his last four starts, Winder is 0-2 with a 5.59 ERA while allowing 22 hits in 19 innings of work. He has also given up five home runs in that span.
