Colorado Rockies (65-93) vs. Los Angeles Dodgers (110-48)

The Colorado Rockies take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the fourth of a six-game series at Dodger Stadium in AL, as we enter the ultimate week of the 2022 MLB regular season. The Dodgers have won the first two games of this set, 10-1 and 6-4, while Sunday’s battle has been excluded from the analysis.

Colorado is listed as a huge road underdog. The Rockies will send Jose Urena to the mound, and the Dodgers will counter with Tony Gonsolin, who’s missed more than a month due to a forearm injury.

The Colorado Rockies extended their losing streak to seven games following a 6-4 defeat at Dodger Stadium this past Saturday. They blew a 4-1 lead, spoiling Kyle Freeland’s solid performance, as the 29-year-old southpaw yielded just one run across 5.2 innings of work while punching out eight. Both Dinelson Lamet and Chad Smith had a meltdown in the seventh, combining for a whopping six free passes and just one out.

The Rockies’ bullpen sits at 4.89 ERA and 4.11 FIP for the season. Over the last ten days, Colorado’s relievers have thrown 32 innings and posted a disastrous 8.16 ERA along with a 4.15 FIP and .358 opposite BABIP.

Jose Urena is 3-8 with a pedestrian 5.24 ERA and 1.61 WHIP in 16 starts and four relief appearances (91 innings pitched) between the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies in 2022. The 31-year-old right-hander has been charged for a loss in two straight starts, surrendering five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and five walks through 10.2 frames of work. Urena is 0-3 with a serviceable 3.95 ERA in five starts this month.
