Minnesota Twins vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-2-2022

The Minnesota Twins and the Detroit Tigers wrap up their three-game series on Sunday in Detroit. Minnesota wraps up a disappointing season that had them in first place for much of the first half before injuries derailed their season down the stretch. The Tigers have been one of the worst teams in the AL for much of the season but are coming off a six-game win streak prior to this series. The Twins have yet to name a starter for Sunday's finale while the Tigers will turn to lefty Joey Wentz (2-2, 3.54). Game time is set for 12:10pm EST.

The Twins will spend the offseason considering a new strategy after taking a shot at a unique contract signing and bringing in all-star Carlos Correa this year along with some other key trades and signings. Correa had a down year but will undoubtedly head back into free agency that should price the Twins out of the market. The Twins took the opener of this series on Friday and looked to close to two games under .500 on Saturday. In game two of the series, the Twins fell 3-2 despite having ten hits but leaving ten men on base.

While finishing over .500 is a small consolation, it will still represent progress for the Twins after a dismal 2021 and an injury-riddled 2022. On Sunday, the Twins will likely turn to right-hander Bailey Ober to make the start. Ober recently returned from IL and is 1-1 with a 1.56 ERA in his three starts since returning. Ober has given up 10 hits in 17.1 inning work, including a two-hitter performance against the White Sox in his last outing.
