Oakland Athletics vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-1-2022

The Oakland A's continue their weekend series in Seattle on Saturday afternoon against the Mariners. The A's have lost 100 games this season and are destined to have, at best, the second-worst record in baseball. The Mariners are on their way to the playoffs for the first time in over 20 years and are playing for seeding only at this point. On the mound on Saturday will be lefty JP Sears (6-3, 4.22) of the A's taking on newly signed righty Luis Castillo (7-6, 3.06) of the Mariners.  First pitch is scheduled for 4:10pm EST.

Mercifully, the A's season is almost over. Oakland will have just this weekend series and then three at home against the Angels before they can regroup and look to the future. The A's are 3-7 in their last ten heading into Friday night with four straight losses. On Friday night in Seattle, the A's offense came up empty once again and they fell 2-1 on a walk-off home run in the 9th inning

Oakland's offseason will be spent trying to find talent on all fronts. The A's stripped their starting rotation during the season and the team's lineup has the worst batting average in baseball. On Saturday, the A's will turn to lefty JP Sears to battle the Mariners. Sears is 1-2 in his last five starts with an ERA south of 8.00. He has allowed 30 hits in just 20.2 innings while giving up five long balls.
