Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-30-2022

Two familiar AL East foes begin a three-game series on Friday when the New York Yankees (96-59) host the Baltimore Orioles (80-76). Both teams have had overall successful regular seasons up to this point but now face each other in a series that will have little impact on anything moving forward. The Yankees have won 11 of the 16 head-to-head games so far.

The Orioles were one of the biggest overachievers in baseball this season. Baltimore has won 80 games and sits four games over .500, despite coming into the season with an over/under win total set at 61.5. Baltimore has also been the best team in baseball for sports bettors to support with a +$2,782 money line profit, and the second best team in runline profit at +2,467 according to covers.com.

Although the season has been positive, midnight will strike soon as the Orioles went 1-5 over their last six games and now are five games out of a wild card spot with just six games remaining. After beating the Red Sox 14-8 Monday, the Orioles dropped the final three games of the series including a 5-3 loss on Thursday.

Jordan Lyles (11-11, 4.55 ERA) will start on Friday. He has had more success at home this season, but he is 6-8 with a 5.56 ERA on the road. In five starts against the Yankees this season, Lyles is 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA
