Troy at Western Kentucky – 10/1/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Troy Trojans and Western Kentucky Hilltoppers face off on Saturday in a Week 5 college football showdown at Houchens Industries–L. T. Smith Stadium. This is the first meeting between the two teams this year.

Troy comes into this game with a 2-2 record overall and they are coming off an impressive win in the last game. Troy’s defense locked down against Marshall giving up only seven points, and that was enough to win by nine points. Under center for Troy is Gunnar Watson and in the last game he completed 15 of his 25 passes for 321 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. Troy is averaging 23 points per game while their defense is giving up 21 points per game. The defense is the strength of this team and is going to need to be good here.

On the other side of this matchup is Western Kentucky who sits with a 3-1 record but they probably feel like they should have a 4-0 record. Against Indiana, they were outscored 17-6 in the 4th quarter and that led to the 33-30 defeat. In the last game against FIU, Western Kentucky had an easy 73-0 victory. Under center for Western Kentucky is Austin Reed and he completed 29 of his 35 passes for 381 yards and five touchdowns. Overall this season Western Kentucky is averaging 47.5 points per game which is 7th best in the league.
