Updated college football betting impact of Hurricane Ian

Tropical Storm Ian has the chance to become Hurricane Ian once again and make landfall around Charleston, South Carolina on Friday afternoon. The storm, which will bring torrential rain, coastal and flash flooding and high winds to the Palmetto State, will then track up into North Carolina overnight into Saturday based on the current forecasts.

We’ve been monitoring the impact that the storm has had on college football totals throughout the week after early bettors hit unders very hard on Monday morning. While wind will remain a factor in some places, some of the games that were bet down early in the week have been bet back up with a more promising weather forecast.

The most notable is Georgia Southern vs. Coastal Carolina (Conway, near Myrtle Beach), with the storm having passed through by Saturday’s 4 p.m. ET kickoff. That total, which also moved up on Wednesday with the news that Coastal QB Grayson McCall was expected to play, is back up to 64 after going all the way down to 60.5.

NC State and Clemson got as low as 39.5 at DraftKings, but has bounced back up to 42 with the worst of the wind gone by late Friday night.
