San Jose State vs. Wyoming Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-1-2022

This Saturday the (2-1) San Jose State Spartans and the (3-2) Wyoming Cowboys will matchup in the fifth week of the 2o22 college football season. Kickoff will be at 7:30 PM EST inside Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium. The Spartans and the Cowboys have both been up and down to start this season, as they will both be looking to start fast in this game.

The San Jose State Spartans are coming into this one after taking down Western Michigan, 34-6. Their defense looked incredible, as they made it very difficult for their opponents to move the ball. They will need to carry that momentum over into this game if they want to have a chance against the Cowboys on the road.

The Wyoming Cowboys are entering this one after falling to BYU, 38-24. Wyoming's offense struggled to consistently move the ball and their defense had a difficult time against the pass. Their secondary will have to be better in th is one if they want to defend their home field.

The San Jose Spartans were able to score 34 points against Western Michigan last week, as they showed that they could consistently move the ball up and down the field. They are also averaging 23.7 points per game and 338 total yards of offense. This is the 101st most points scored per game and the 104th most yards. I would recommend watching for Chevan Cordeiro, as the Junior quarterback has been slinging the ball to start this season. He has only thrown three touchdown passes this season, though. The Spartans are averaging 261 passing yards per game, which is the 54th most in the country. Justin Lockhart has been the leading receiver for the Spartans this season, as he has already recorded 192 yards and 10 receptions. San Jose State has struggled to consistently move the ball on the ground this season, though. They are only averaging 77 rushing yards per game, which is the 124th most in the country. Kaiser Robinson has been San Jose State& #39;s leading rusher, as he has already recorded 140 yards and three touchdowns this season. He is also averaging 4.1 yards per carry.

The San Jose State defense has been the story this season. They held Western Michigan to just six points last week. This season, they are surrendering 15.7 points per game and 324.7 yards. This is the 19th least amount of points allowed per game and the 26th least amount of yards. They have done a great about against the pass, as they are only surrendering 169.7 passing yards per game. Moving the ball through the air against the Spartans has been a challenge. I would watch for Nehemiah Shelton, as the Senior corner has already recorded 10 tackles this season and broken up two passes. San Jose State has also been okay against the run this season. They are allowing 153 rushing yards per game, which is the 83rd most in the nation. This is the weakest part of their team, as they have struggled to tackle in the open field this seaso n.
