Mets vs. Brewers Prediction & MLB Playoff Odds Today: Wild Card Series Game 2
Mets vs. Brewers Prediction & MLB Playoff Odds Today: Wild Card Series Game 2iv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

The New York Mets took their momentum from the postseason-clinching win on Monday into Game 1 of the Wild Card Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, winning in convincing fashion at American Family Field in a game which featured some not-so-family-friendly moments.

  • The Mets took Game 1 8-4, as they teed off on the Brewers' middle relievers following Freddy Peralta's early exit
  • New York will send left-hander Sean Manaea to the mound on Wednesday, and he's coming off the best regular season of his career
  • Frankie Montas, who performed marginally better with the Brewers after being acquired ahead of the trade deadline, gets the action underway for the home team. First pitch is at 7:38 p.m. ET.

Our Mets vs. Brewers prediction looks at whether Milwaukee has the offensive firepower to get to Manaea and stave off elimination, or if New York will punch its ticket to the National League Div ision Series.

Mike Spector examined whether Houston and Baltimore can force a Game 3 in their respective matchups with his Tigers vs. Astros prediction and Royals vs. Orioles prediction, and he believes at least one series will end on Wednesday.

Who will win Mets vs. Brewers?

As is the case with the other three teams that dropped Game 1 on Tuesday, the Brewers are fighting for playoff survival on Wednesday. Incredibl y, three of four visiting teams won the first game of the Wild Card round.

However, while the Astros and Orioles serve as significant favorites to bounce back in Game 2, the Brewers are trading at just -120 to force a Game 3.

Now, there are two ways to look at this: you can either believe that our best sports betting sites are undervaluing the Brewers after the lopsided Tuesday defeat, or they're properly pricing an affair that's much more even than Milwaukee's -140 Game 1 moneyline odds suggested.

I'll side with Option A as I still think the Brewers can take these next two games, especially since they have they have home advantage.

However, I am slightly worried about Montas on Wednesday. As previously mentioned, the right-hander performed better for the Brewers than he did for the Cincinnati Reds, but he still owned a 4.55 ERA across 57 1/3 inning s.

This really just comes down to the type of game I expect from the Brewers.

This season, they owned the second-best walk rate against left-handed pitchers and stole the second-most bases. I think we see Milwaukee force Manaea into deep counts, work free passes, and make him uncomfortable with their aggressive base running.

Manaea certainly had a good season, but I have a hard time believing a guy with a career 4.10 ERA just woke up in April and finally became a great pitcher. Nothing in his profile indicates that he made significant improvements from the last couple of years, and his strong season really comes down to good batted-ball luck (.245 BABIP).

I think the Mets will once again score their fair share of runs, but the Brewers will outdo that offensive output.

So, in case you missed it, things got rather heated between Mets outfielder Jesse Winker and Brewers shortstop Willy Adames in Game 1. During the exchange, it appeared Adames told Winker to meet him in the parking lot after the latter asked him “what are you going to do about it.”

If you've ever seen a baseball fight that doesn't include Rougned Odor or Jose Ramirez, the answer to Winker's question was likely that Adames would have stood in a circle while his team's relievers sprinted across the outfield from the bullpen.

But maybe Adames can do some damage with his bat on Wednesday.

The shortstop went 0-for-3 with a walk in Game 1, popping out in three straight at-bats following a first-inning walk. It was clear he was trying to do too much following his verbal sparring with Winker in the second inning.

We're betting on Adames to regroup over night and direct that fire toward putting together quality plate appearances.

These odds are short, but Adames served as one of the Brewers' best hitters this season, and he'll need to have a strong performance if Milwaukee is going to force a Game 3.
