St. Louis Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-25-2022

The St. Louis Cardinals (89-63, 84-68 RL, 72-75-5 O/U) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (104-47, 91-60 RL, 64-74-13 O/U) conclude a three-game NL series on Sunday evening. The Cardinals will send Adam Wainwright to the mound. The Dodgers will reply with Michael Grove, seeking his first win of the season. The season series is even at 2-2.

The Cardinals will have Adam Wainwright on the mound in the finale. Wainwright had some trouble last time out, conceding four runs in six innings against the Padres, and was pegged with the loss to fall to 11-10. The veteran right-hander could be showing signs of fatigue as he has struggled in three of his four starts this month and enters with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP in 184 innings of work on the season. Wainwright recorded 5.1 shutout innings against the Dodgers in July and is 7-5 with a stellar 2.53 ERA in 103.1 career innings.

The St. Louis offense broke out of an ugly slump with a 5-4 win on San Diego on Thursday to avoid the sweep. The Cards are playing the sixth game of an eight-game road trip which takes them to Milwaukee after this one. They stand at 6-4 in their last ten road games.

Tommy Edman, like many Cardinals, has cooled down at the plate but still features a solid .821 OPS on the month. The 27-year-old second baseman now has 56 RBIs accompanied by a .723 OPS on the year. He is 5 for 18 against the Dodgers this season. Tyler O’Neill is out of action.

The Cardinals are posting an average of 4.80 runs per game, ranking them fourth overall. The pitching staff has logged a 3.74 team ERA, good for ninth in the big leagues.
