San Francisco Giants vs. Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-25-2022

The San Francisco Giants (74-77, 71-80 RL, 70-73-8 O/U) battle the Arizona Diamondbacks (70-82, 88-64 RL, 68-79-5 O/U) in the three-game series finale on Sunday afternoon. The Giants will send Jakob Junis to the hill. The Diamondbacks will reply with Drey Jameson. The Diamondbacks lead the season series 8-6.

Jakob Junis will get the nod in the finale. Junis was clobbered last time out, squandering a whopping six runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings against the Rockies, and was able to escape with a no-decision in a game the Giants won. The veteran right-hander is having an inconsistent season, filing a 4.41 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP accompanied by a 4-6 record in 102 innings. Junis has limited Arizona to only two runs in 11 innings this season and features a 2.08 ERA in 17 career innings.

The Giants are playing well, earning the win in five consecutive games entering Saturday after sweeping Colorado this week. It’s been a disappointing season but the pitching is in place to compete next year. The Giants are 6-4 in their last ten games overall.

Mike Yastrzemski has not been able to solve the D-Backs pitching, hitti ng an abysmal .108 with zero RBIs against the rivals. The 32-year-old slugger has 14 homers along with 49 RBIs and a .679 OPS on the season. Yaz has driven in four runs in his last five games.

The Giants are averaging 4.37 runs per game, ranking them 13th overall. The pitching staff has filed a 3.88-team ERA, good for 13th in the big leagues.
