San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-25-2022

Colorado Rockies (65-86) will host the San Diego Padres (83-68) on Saturday in the second contest of a three-game series. The Rockies took the opener 4-3 in 10 innings. This preview was written before the completion of Saturday's game.

The Padres went into Saturday on a two-game losing streak which has come right after they had won five straight games. San Diego is holding onto the final NL wild-card spot leading the Brewers by two games, and after Sunday San Diego will head home to face the Dodgers in a four-game series.

Due to never having Fernando Tatis Jr this season and inconsistencies, the San Deigo offense has been more average than exceptional. The Padres are 15th averaging 4.4 runs per game this season, and rank 20th in home runs. Manny Machado is the team's MVP with a .296 batting average, 30 home runs, and 95 RBI. Juan Soto, one of the biggest trade deadline acquisitions, is batting .234 with five home runs and 15 RBI in 42 games since coming over from Washington, but he did go deep on Friday.

Mike Clevinger (6-7. 4.23 ERA) is scheduled to start on Sunday. In three games against the Rockies this season Clevinger is 1-1 with a 4.40 ERA. After struggling in two starts against the Dodgers and against the Mariners to begin the month, Clevinger tossed 5.2 shutout innings against St. Louis last Tuesday.
