SGP predictions for Rams vs. Lions
Los Angeles and Detroit ranked among the NFL's top-10 scoring offenses last season, averaging a combined 51.1 points per game.
With fully healthy units returning virtually all critical contributors for both rosters, these two teams should again be among the league's best offenses in 2024.
While last year's playoff game between the Rams and Lions was one of the most competitive of the postseason, the total score only reached 47 points.
Without the threat of elimination in this rematch, the season opener should be a more friendly environment for offenses that should both be able to move the ball frequently and efficiently in a dome setting.
The -108 odds on Over 52.5 make DraftKings the best spot for this leg of the parlay, but Caesars is still competitive with -110 odds on the same line. At FanDuel, the odds are juiced to -115 on the same point total.
The Detroit defense was one of the top units in the league against the run last year, allowing only 91.1 rushing yards per game (2nd-fewest in NFL).
Entering Week 1, the Rams have a peculiar situation atop their depth chart at running back, with incumbent lead back Kyren Williams set to handle punt return duties.
Though I don't expect this quirk to be particularly prescriptive for Williams' playing time on offense, there is a world in which rookie Blake Corum siphons some snaps away.
Plus, only four running backs eclipsed 60 rushing yards against the Lions across 17 regular-season games last season.
Williams only narrowly eclipsed the line with 61 yards against Detroit in the Rams' playoff loss last year without Corum around.
Of our best sportsbooks offering clear odds on rushing Unders in SGPs, DraftKings and Caesars have the line at 59.5 yards with Under odds of -115.
FanDuel lists it at 59.5 yards with -113 odds.
It's now or never for third-year wide receiver Jameson Williams.
The Lions have cleared the deck for the former Alabama standout to see the field with enough frequency to make an impact if he's truly the type of talent worthy of a first-round draft selection in 2022.
With Goff's passing line at 271.5 yards, Williams, who will be on the field in two and three wide sets, should get enough looks to convert for more than the 14% implied share of the total projected receiving yards.
Caesars has the most attra ctive line on Williams' receiving total of 37.5 yards.
The +520 parlay odds at Caesars are far superior to FanDuel's +467, and a winning $10 wager will profit $52.00.
