North Dakota State vs. Colorado Player Props, Odds 8-29iv class=”bodyContent col-lg-9 mb-3″>

The Colorado Buffaloes begin a new season under head coach Deion Sanders when they host the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET.

Bettors and football fans can anticipate fireworks if the 2024 campaign starts anything like Year 1 of the Coach Prime era. Colorado averaged 41.3 points per game during a 3-0 start last season before the Buffaloes were overmatched in Pac-12 play.

A key reason for that was their star quarterback, whom we focus on in our Shedeur Sanders player props. But we have our eyes on a few other Colorado stars.

In addition to our North Dakota State vs. Colorado predictions, here are our top player props ahead of Thursday's marquee matchup.

  • Jimmy Horn Jr. Over 42.5 receiving yards (-114 via FanDuel) ????
  • Charlie Offerdahl anytime touchdown scorer (+120 via BetMGM) ???
  • Dallan Hayden 50-plus rushing yards (+175 via DraftKings) ???

College football picks made Wednesday; odds subject to change.

I don't usually go against the market, but early betting action has pushed Horn's receiving yardage prop to a point where I must. This line has dropped nearly 20 yards since FanDuel opened with 59.5 last weekend.

Horn started last season by clearing this prop in six of his first seven games. He failed to do so in each of his last five games, but the 5-foot-10 speedster can pick up plenty of yards on a single chunk play.

I doubt this line drops much further, especially with some of our best sportsbooks hanging a line of 46.5. I would recommend taking this line at -120 or better before I'd prefer to play the alternate markets.

Best odds: -114 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 53.27%

Colorado's running back room is one of the more interesting aspects to monitor in the opener. The Buffs weren't good at running the ball last year, which is why many of those rushers are no longer on this team.

Offerdahl, a former walk-on who earned a scholarship in the spring, is reportedly the starting RB to open the year. I'm skeptical that the 5-foot-11, 185-pound back will hold onto the job (more on that later), but Offerdahl's anytime touchdown odds might be the best way to bet on him having a leading role on Thursday.

A $10 bet would net a $12 profit if Offerdahl finds paydirt. For what it's worth, Colorado's running backs scored four touchdowns in Week 1 last year.

Let's pretend Colorado beat reporters are wrong about Offerdahl as the starting running back, or he doesn't have much success in the opener. Hayden, a transfer from Ohio State, is an intriguing flier in the rushing props market.

Bettors agree. Hayden's rushing yards line opened at 26.5 at FanDuel before climbing up to 37.5 within 36 hours. Given the uncertainty of the rushing split, I don't think there is any value on his current line.

But I'm interested in capitalizing on uncertainty. If Hayden is involved, there is a chance he hits in a big way. DraftKings offers a +175 for 50-plus rushing yards, while FanDuel prices the same prop at +118.

Take advantage of uncertainty in the early weeks of prop betting by chasing plus-money prices on talented players. Hayden, who ran for 510 yards at OSU two years ago, fits the bill.
