The weekend is nearly upon us, but there's plenty to get excited about before it comes thanks to another jam-packed MLB slate on Friday, featuring a doubleheader between AL Central contenders.
There are plenty of good matchups on Friday, but none carry greater significance than the pair of games between the Cleveland Guardians (67-47, first in the AL Central) and the Minnesota Twins (63-50, 3.5 games back). They'll square off at 2:10 p.m. ET and then again at around 8:10 p.m. ET.
However, the contest catching our attention for our first MLB player prop and prediction for Friday is between the reigning champion Texas Rangers and World Series odds contender New York Yankees.
We're targeting Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon in that affair, which is set to begin at 7:05 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium. Can he continue his strong run of starts, or will he stumble as he has man y times before this season?

Rodon has been tough to figure out this season. He's put together three strong starts in a row, racking up 25 strikeouts across 19 2/3 innings, giving up only six earned runs in the process.
Before that, though, he had gone more than five innings just once in six starts, allowing 29 earned runs (on a whopping nine homers) over 27 innings.
So, which Rodon will show up on Friday?
Well, based on his projections, he's at least not expected to strike out seven Rangers hitters. We're getting better than 16% positive expected value through these +114 odds at FanDuel.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle – which features one of the most respected trading teams in the sports betting industry – is trading at -105. The 51.22% implied probability associated with those odds is far more in lin e with Rodon's projections for Friday.
