San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-23-2022

The San Diego Padres (83-67, 66-83 RL, 70-75-4 O/U) meet with the Colorado Rockies (64-86, 80-69 RL, 67-75-7 O/U) as the division foes begin a three-game series on Friday evening. The Padres will have Sean Manaea on the mound. The Rockies will counter with Ryan Feltner, seeking his fourth win. The Rockies lead the season series 9-7.

The Padres will have Sean Manaea start on Friday. Manaea was solid in his latest effort, holding the Diamondbacks to only two runs in five innings, but received no help and took the loss to dip to 7-9. The veteran left-hander has been inconsistent and is having a disappointing season, recording a 5.18 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 144.1 innings of work. Manaea limited the Rockies to only two runs in 6.1 innings in the only meeting this season and is 1-2 with a 4.24 ERA in 17 career innings against the rivals. 

San Diego is looking dangerous recently. They have won five out of their last six games and now have a four-game cushion in the NL Wildcard. They won three of four against the Diamondbacks and followed with a series win against the Cardinals prior to this series.

Brandon Drury has two homers and five RBIs agai nst the Rockies this season. The 30-year-old slugger has been the Padres' best hitter recently, and now has 27 homers with 83 RBIs and an .821 OPS on the year. Drury has six RBIs in his last eight games. 

The Padres are scoring an average of 4.37 runs on the season, ranking them 16th overall. The pitching staff has filed a 3.85 team ERA, placing them 10th in the big leagues.
