Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-20-2022

The Arizona Diamondbacks (68-78, 83-63 RL, 66-75-5 O/U) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (101-44, 90-55 RL, 62-70-13 O/U) battle in game one of Tuesday’s doubleheader from Dodger Stadium. The D-Backs will give Zach Davies the nod. The Dodgers counter with Michael Grove. The Dodgers lead the season series 11-3.

Zach Davies will make the start in the first game. Davies was fantastic in his previous start, allowing two runs in 5.1 innings against this Dodgers team, and finished with the no-decision in a game the D-Backs won. The veteran right-hander had a great August but has been inconsistent this month and enters with a 4.06 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP accompanied by a 2-4 record in 122 innings pitched. Davies has squandered 13 runs in 18.2 innings against the Dodgers this season and is 4-5 with a 3.16 ERA in 74 career innings.

Arizona went 2-5 on a seven-game homestand which concluded on Sunday. They lost two of three against the Dodgers and had a rough series against the Padres, dropping three of four games, scoring a total of just eight runs in the series.

Very few of the D-Backs' hitters have enjoyed any success against the Dodgers pitching including Christian Walker. The veteran slugger only has six RBIs and a .574 OPS against the rivals. Walker has good stats, launching 34 homers with 83 RBIs and has four RBIs in his last five games.

The Diamondbacks are posting an average of 4.38 runs on the season, ranking them 13th overall. The pitching is a weakness, logging a 4.28 team ERA, placing them 23rd.
