UTEP at New Mexico 9/17/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The UTEP Miners and New Mexico Lobos face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at University Stadium.

UTEP comes into this game with a 1-2 record overall but their one win did come in their last game of the season. UTEP scored 20 points against New Mexico State and that was enough to secure the win because the defense only gave up 13 points. Two games ago against Oklahoma, they lost 45-13. Under center for UTEP is Gavin Hardison and in his last start, he threw for 166 yards and a touchdown. Ronald Awatt also had 21 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown. At wide receiver, it was Tyrin Smith that caught five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. In this game, the defense is going to need to be good again.

On the other side of this matchup is the New Mexico Lobos who sit with a 1-1 record. In the first game of the season, they beat Maine 41-0 but in the last game against Boise State they didn’t look as good and they were defeated 31-14. Quarterback Miles Kendrick really struggled in the last game completing 9 of his 28 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for -30 yards on the ground and that is going to need to be really cleaned up here. They might not expect to score 41 points again here, but they are going to need a much bigger game from Kendrick or this will be another loss.
