Charlotte at Georgia State – 9/17/22 College Football Picks and Prediction

The Charlotte 49ers and Georgia State Panthers face off on Saturday in a Week 3 college football showdown at Turner Field.

Georgia State has had a slow start to the season and they currently sit with an 0-2 record. In the first game, Georiga State lost 35-14 and in the last game against North Carolina, they were defeated 35-28. At the end of the third quarter they were tied, but they gave up seven runs and that led to the defeat. Under center for Georgia State is Darren Grainger and in the last game, he completed 16 of his 24 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns. Tucker Gregg had a big game rushing 18 times for 79 yards. This is a step down in competition but if they want a chance to win this game it’s going to need to be the defense that steps up and makes life tough on the 49ers offense.

On the other side of this matchup is Charlotte and they currently sit with an 0-3 record overall. In the last game against Maryland, the defense really struggled giving up 56 points and that led to the blowout defeat. One issue for Charlotte is they have lost quarterback Chris Reynolds to injury and it’s unclear when he will be able to come back. In the last game quarterback, Xavier Williams completed 19 of his 35 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. Trexler Ivey also completed 9 of his 16 passes for 101 yards, and a touchdown. Elijah Spencer also caught four passes for 98 yards. The defense in each of the first three games really struggled, and that will need to improve here if they want to secure the victory.
