It’s an interconference battle on the hardwood as a pair of teams do battle in search of a victory in the Lone Star State. The Toronto Raptors are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Houston Rockets Friday night. Toronto dropped Chicago 118-107 on the road in their previous contest Tuesday night, winning outright as a 6.5-point underdog. Houston was in action at home Wednesday night against the Pelicans in a Southwest Division matchup, falling 110-99 and losing outright as a one-point favorite in their previous game. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Rockets own a 29-25 advantage but the Raptors have won four straight meetings, including a 117-111 road win in the most recent matchup on February 3, 2023.

Toronto snapped a five-game losing skid as they took down Chicago on the road in their previous contest Tuesday night. The Raptors improved to 17-30 on the season and stood last in the Atlantic Division, 19.5 games behind the Celtics for the top spot. They were 12th in the Eastern Conference standings entering Friday, 9.5 games behind the Pacers for the final guaranteed playoff spot and three games back of the Hawks for the final spot in the play-in tournament. Against Chicago, Toronto trailed by four after the opening quarter and by 10 at the half before outscoring Chicago 65-44 in the second half to earn the victory. The Raptors shot 51.8% from the field, including 14 of 29 from three-point range, and overcame allowing the Bulls to shoot 50.7% in the contest. Gary Trent Jr. led Toronto with 24 points in the win.

This season, Toronto stands 18th in scoring offense as they put up an average of 114.5 points per game on the season. The Raptors are 13th in rebounding with 43.6 boards a night while they are 2nd by dishing out an average of 29.6 assists a night. Toronto stands 17th in scoring defense as they allow an average of 116.6 points a night this season. Scottie Barnes is leading Toronto this season in scoring as he puts up an average of 20.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists for the Raptors. Toronto looks to Jakob Poeltl (10.6 points, 8.3 rebounds), Immanuel Quickley (15.5 points), Chris Boucher, Jordan Nwora, Otto Porter Jr., Gradey Dick, Garrett Temple and Jalen McDaniels to provide some sort of secondary scoring punc h. The Raptors are 10th in the league in field goal percentage as they shoot 48% from the floor as a team. Toronto stands 24th by knocking down 11.8 three-pointers a night while they are 20th in three-point field goal percentage as they sink 35.8% of their attempts on the season.

Poeltl (ankle) last played on January 7 and is slated to be out until mid-February. Quickley (thigh) missed the last three games while Barrett (knee) missed the last two and Porter Jr. (back) left the game early. All three are questionable here so watch for updates on their respective statuses for this contest.
