Against Wisconsin, Minnesota gave the ranked Badgers all they wanted and then some only to fall short. The Golden Gophers trailed by as many as 15 with under five minutes to play in the first half before trimming the deficit to 10 at intermission. Minnesota rallied to lead 46-45 with 11:57 to play, gave up a 9-0 run to trail 54-46 and then reeled off an 11-1 run of their own to take a 57-55 lead with 2:37 remaining. The Golden Gophers struggled from there, scoring just two more points while Wisconsin scored six to pull out the win. Minnesota shot 37.9% from the field, including 10 of 24 from beyond the arc, but hurt themselves by misfiring on eight of their 13 free throw attempts in the game. Elij ah Hawkins led the Golden Gophers with 16 points, five rebounds and nine assists in the loss.
