The SMU Mustangs (13-5, 11-4-2 ATS, 6-11 O/U) meet the North Texas Mean Green (11-6, 9-5 ATS, 6-8 O/U) in an AAC showdown on Thursday evening. The Mustangs posted a home win against Tulsa on Saturday. The Mean Green were dealt a road loss by Charlotte in their previous bout.

The SMU Mustangs are targeting a third consecutive victory. SMU is looking good in conference play. Their only conference defeat was a narrow road loss against a strong Memphis squad. They have replied by winning three in a row. They beat Temple by a 77-64 score last week followed by a 103-70 home win against Tulsa on Saturday in a bout that had SMU as 13-point favorites. The win improved brings them to 4-1 in AAC play. The Mustangs have covered the spread in four of their last five bouts.

Zhuric Phelps has cooled a bit recently, sinking double-digits in just two of his last four games. The junior guard scored 17 in the recent win against East Carolina and has recorded an average of 14.3 PPG on 40% shooting. Chuck Harris has scored at least 13 points in three straight games. The senior guard netted 20 points on Saturday and has improved his season average to 13.3 PPG. Samuell Williamson has scored double-digits in three of his last five games. The senior forward is outstanding defensively and is averaging 9.4 PPG and 7 RPG.

The Mustangs are ranked 39th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and are 3-2 on the road including a win against Florida State. SMU is scoring an average of 76.2 points on the season, ranking them 133rd. The defense is elite. They are holding opponents to only 62.4 points, good for eighth.
