The Belmont Bruins are heading to the CEFCU Arena on Tuesday night to take on the Illinois State Redbirds in Missouri Valley Conference action. The Bruins (11-8, 4-4 in MVC) are on a three-game losing streak after a 95-72 road loss against the Bradley Braves on Saturday. The Redbirds (9-10, 3-5) are coming off a 69-60 road victory on Saturday against the Missouri State Bears.
The Belmont Bruins are trying to bounce back after a 95-72 road loss against the Bradley Braves and it doesn’t help giving up 51 points in the second half of the game. The Bruins were able to shoot the basketball well as they shot 26-of-54 (48.1%) overall, 11-of-24 (45.8%) from beyond the arc and 10 attempts at the charity stripe. Sophomore guard Cade Tyson led the way as in 36 minutes he finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. The defense was terrible though as the Braves were able to shoot 61.0% throughout the game, 58.1% from deep and six shots at the charity stripe.
The Belmont Bruins are doing pretty well on the offensive side of the court as they are 92nd in the sport with 77.8 points pe r game. The defense has been atrocious as they are giving up 78.9 points per game, which is 336th in the NCAA.
