It’s the latest chapter of the Battle of Alberta as a pair of Pacific Division teams take the ice looking for a win in Cowtown. Edmonton ran their win streak to an even dozen games as they downed the Kraken 4-2 at home Thursday night in their previous game. Calgary was upended 4-3 on home ice by Toronto in their previous game Thursday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Oilers own a 7-3 advantage and have claimed the last three meetings. That includes a 5-2 home win in the first meeting this season on October 29, 2023.

Edmonton rallied to down Seattle at home to run their win streak to an even dozen games so they look to keep that rolling here. They were one point ahead of the Kings for the final guaranteed playoff spot in the division entering Friday night. Edmonton comes into this one 5th in the league in goals per game as they average 3.51 goals per contest. The Oilers stand 12th in goals against as they allow 2.95 goals per night. Edmonton stands 7th in power play success as they cash in 25.8% of their chances with the man advantage on the year. The Oilers are 10th in penalty killing as they successfully get through 81.8% of their shorthanded situations on the year.

Against Seattle, Edmonton started slow but took control of the game once their offense got going en route to the victory. The Oilers held a 12-10 edge in shots on goal in the opening period but found themselves down 2-0 on the scoreboard after 20 minutes of play. In the second period, Edmonton held a 13-10 advantage in shots on goal and outscored Seattle 3-0 to take a 3-2 lead at the second intermission. Warren Foegele got the Oilers on the board with his eighth goal of the season at the 37 second mark off assists from Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane to make it a 2-1 game. Draisaitl tied the game with a power play goal, his 22nd of the season, at 4:38 off assists from Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Foegele tallied his second of the night and ninth of the season at 7:38 off assists from Draisaitl and Kane to give the Oilers their first lead of the night. In the third period, Edmonton held an 11-7 advantage in shots and tallied the lone goal of the period to put the game away. Hyman scored on the power play for his 27th goal of the season at 17:22 off assists from Connor McDavid and Draisaitl to close the scoring. Stuart Skinner made 25 saves for Edmonton, who held a 36-27 shot edge, in the victory. He’s likely between the pipes again here.
