A pair of Big Ten programs take the floor in search of a victory as they do battle in the Great Lakes State. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are on the road as they travel to take on the Michigan State Spartans Sunday afternoon. Rutgers comes in off a 66-57 home win over Indiana in their previous contest Tuesday night, covering the line as a four-point favorite. Michigan State fell 71-68 at #10 Illinois Thursday night though they pushed the line as a three-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Spartans own a 12-3 advantage but the Scarlet Knights have taken three of the last four meetings. That includes a 61-55 home win in the most recent matchup on February 4, 2023.

Rutgers had dropped two straight and three of their last four games before dropping Indiana at home Tuesday night. The Scarlet Knights improved to 9-6 overall and stand 12th in the Big Ten with a 1-3 mark in conference play. Against Indiana, Rutgers trailed by seven with 11:02 to play in the first half but finished the half on a 21-11 run to take a three-point lead at intermission. The Scarlet Knights were up one with 11:41 to play before holding the Hoosiers scoreless for more than five minutes while scoring 12 unanswered points to go up 51-38 with 6:32 remaining en route to the victory. Rutgers shot 32.3% from the field, including five of 22 from three-point range, and controlled the boards by a 52-40 margin in the contest. Mawot Mag led five players in double figures for the Scarlet Knights with 16 points and eight boards in the contest.

The Scarlet Knights are below average on the off ensive end of the floor as they are 314th in the nation with 68.3 points per game. Rutgers is 67th in the country in rebounding (39.1) and 294th in assists with 11.9 dimes a night. Rutgers shoots just 39.2% from the floor as a team on the year, putting them 351st in the nation. The Scarlet Knights connect on 5.9 threes a night but shoot 28.6% from long range. Rutgers is scuffling at the charity stripe as the y hit just 66.7% at the line as a team this season, putting them 305th in the nation.
