The Charlotte Hornets have struggled throughout the season both with the results on the court and injuries that have plagued the team. One of those injured players, star point guard LaMelo Ball, is back from injury and the team hopes his presence on the court can open up the offense and stabilize the team. Ball returned from a 20-game absence on Friday against the Spurs but was unable to prevent the Spurs from dominating the game in a 135-99 loss. Ball was outstanding in his return with 28 points, five assists and five steals to lead the Hornets. Terry Rozier added 16 points but the Hornets still are struggling with injuries as Gordon Hayward, PJ Washington, and Mark Williams remain out.

“It’s always good to play basketball, but not like that,” Ball said. “But it was cool to get back out there.”

The Hornets come into this game with the 28th-ranked scoring offense in the NBA, a direct reflection of Ball's absence and countless other injuries. The Hornets are 25th in field goal shooting and 19th in 3-point shooting. They are just 27th in the NBA in 3-point field goals per game. On the defensive end, things haven't gone much better for the Hornets. They rank 25th in the NBA in scoring defense. They 27th in field goal defense and last in the league in 3-point defense. The Hornets are just 29th in total rebounds per game this season and 18th in turnovers per game.
