The Los Angeles Kings (20-10-344, 19-13 PL, 11-20-1 O/U) take on the Detroit Red Wings (20-16-5, 19-14 PL, 20-12-1 O/U) on Saturday evening. The Kings posted a road win against the Panthers on Thursday. The Red Wings were hit with a home loss by the Oilers. Detroit posted a 4-3 win in a shootout against LA earlier this month.

The Los Angeles Kings resume a road trek. The squad was near the top of the NHL standings last month but has hit a bump. They have now dropped games seven games in a row including a loss to Detroit in that span. They lost a 3-2 overtime decision to the Lightning on Tuesday and were dealt a 3-2 overtime road loss against the Panthers on Thursday night. The Kings have dipped to 3rd in the division and are in danger of plummeting into a wildcard spot.

Adrian Kempe has recorded just four points on the month. The 27-year-old winger earned one point in the loss on Thursday and has 37 points on the season. Kempe scored two goals against the Red Wings last week. Quinton Byfield is having a breakout season. The 21-year-old was a top pick in 2021 and is showing his potential. Byfield only has two points this month but has 28 points in 38 games on the season. Drew Doughty continues to log big minutes, averagi ng over 25 minutes per game. The veteran defenseman scored on Thursday and now has 21 points and a +10 rating.

Cam Talbot continues to be in the cage in most games. The veteran netminder has not been as sharp recently but has outstanding numbers on the season, reporting a stellar 2.22 GAA and a .922 save % accompanied by a 14-9-5 record. Los Angeles is scoring an average of 3.3 goals per game, ranking them 13th. They are allowing an average of only 2.4 goals, good for second.
